Specific Application Directions

SPECIFIC APPLICATION DIRECTIONS

Metal Cutting, Honing and Reaming Operations: Add Spica Blue to your currently used oil at a 50/50 rate (1/2 Spica Blue to 1/2 current oil). Make-up oil added later to the reservoir must also be the same 50/50 mix. Cutting, honing and reaming operations will be accomplished in approximately 1/3 less time with a superior desired finish, significantly reduced production time and greatly increased tool life.

Rusted, Corroded, Frozen Metal Parts: Soak, coarse spray or otherwise saturate parts with Spica Blue or Spica Gold full strength and allow to stand for several hours (overnight in severe cases) before attempting to loosen. In extreme cases, or if fear of damage to parts exists, repeat with a second application 12 hours after first before attempting to loosen. Frozen parts should separate easily without damage of any kind.

Cables, Chains, Winches: Where a light lubricant is desired, coarse spray or soak with full strength Spica Gold. Where spray method is used, repeat spray application 12 hours after first. Where a medium lubricant is desired, apply full strength Spica Green with a paint brush or similar device. Cables and chains must be completely coated with Spica Green which will require that if cable or chain is mounted on a winch, then the cable or chain must be unrolled from the winch. Spica Green can be applied by rewinding the cable or chain while pulling it through an open trough filled with Spica Green. Where a heavy lubricant is desired, apply Spica Gray with a spatula or similar device making sure that a good coating covers the chain, cable or winch. Again, cable or chain must be unrolled from winch to apply Spica Gray properly. Many winch devices are equipped with grease fittings in which case Spica Gray must also be applied to these points. All cables, chains, winches, etc. will perform in a much superior manner with a greatly extended useful life and be almost impervious to rust and corrosion even if in salt water operations. Repeat applications on inspection of equipment when it appears that the last application is wearing off. Applications must be repeated fairly frequently with Spica Gold, less frequently with Spica Green and least frequently with Spica Gray depending upon level of equipment use and climate conditions.

Automatic Transmissions - Automotive Type: In automatic transmissions where the manufacturer specifies a standard ATF fluid (type A or F), calculate 5% of total capacity (20 to 1 ratio) and add that amount of Spica Blue to transmission. Drain, refill and repeat application each 600 hours, 25,000 miles or 40,000 km. Faithful use of Spica Blue will result in superior performance with useful life of transmission extended by approximately twice the normal life expectancy.

Hydraulic Systems: If it has been some time (1,500 operating hours or more) since currently used hydraulic oil has been changed, then completely drain total system replacing all filters if so equipped. Calculate 10% of total system capacity and install that amount (the 10%) of Spica Red in the reservoir (10 to 1 ratio). Finish filling system reservoir with new (fresh) conventional hydraulic oil until topped off. Operate system several times to eliminate air and allow the newly blended hydraulic oil to migrate completely through the system. Always dispose of used oil in an environmentally safe manner. If it is not practical to completely drain the hydraulic system, then calculate and remove 10% of the conventional hydraulic oil and replace with a like amount of Spica Red. Again, operate the system several times to allow the newly blended hydraulic oil to completely migrate through the system. Repeat the same application at hydraulic oil change-out which must be no longer than 1,500 operating hours; or less if conditions are severe (dusty, dirty, etc.). Any make-up oil added due to oxidation or leakage between change-outs must also be made up of 10% Spica Red. Faithful application of Spica Red will allow superior equipment performance, greater load capacity and approximately double the useful life of the total hydraulic device.

Gear Boxes (enclosed) With Any Type Gear Configuration: If it has been some time (1,500 operating hours, 50,000 miles, 80,000 km or more) since gear box oil has been changed, then completely drain gear box of old oil. Calculate 10% of total gear box capacity and install that amount (the 10%) of Spica Green into the gear box (10 to 1 ratio). Complete the filling of the gear box with new (fresh) conventional gear oil until topped off. Always dispose of used oil in an environmentally safe manner. If the gear box does not have to be completely changed out (drained), then calculate and remove (drain) 10% of the total gear box capacity conventional gear oil and replace with the same amount of Spica Green. Repeat the same application of Spica Green at each total gear box change-out which must be no longer than 1,500 operating hours, 50,000 miles or 80,000 km. Any make-up oil added to the gear box between change-outs must also be made of up of 10% Spica Green. Faithful use of Spica Green will result in superior performance, less energy consumption, less downtime and approximately twice the normal life of the gear set.

Open Gears or Chain and Sprocket Drives: Apply Spica Gold, Green or Gray in the same manner prescribed for Chains, Cables or Winches.

Manufacturing Equipment: There is an infinite variety of kinds and types of manufacturing equipment dependent upon the commodity(ties) manufactured. We custom specify formulas and applications for all manufacturing operations based upon our engineering survey of the plant(s) or fabrique(s). Contact Parsec for details.
